Adrenergic Antagonists

Adrenergic antagonists are a type of drug used to treat a range of conditions including high blood pressure, abnormal heart rhythms, heart disease.

There are two main types of adrenergic antagonists

  • α-adrenergic-antagonists (alpha blockers) such as alfuzosin (Uroxatral), doxazosin (Cardura), prazosin (Minipress), terazosin, tamsulosin (Flomax)
  • β-adrenergic-antagonists (beta blockers) such as acebutolol (Sectral), atenolol (Tenormin), bisoprolol (Zebeta), metoprolol, nadolol (Corgard), nebivolol (Bystolic), propranolol (Inderal LA)
