The fact that an intervention is listed in this glossary does not necessarily mean that we agree with its use. Nor does it necessarily mean that there is any scientifically valid or reliable evidence behind it.
Over time we hope to evaluate each of the interventions listed in this glossary, providing a ranking which tells you the level of scientific evidence which supports or does not support its use. Intervention which focuses on Social-Communication, Emotional Regulation, and Transactional Support as the principal dimensions for intervention planning
The model is designed to directly address the core deficits observed in the individual child with autism. It does this by addressing key areas such as social communication, social relatedness and sensory characteristics, as well as by providing support to the individual and to the family.
Practitioners following the model use a combination of techniques and strategies, many of them borrowed from other interventions, in order to meet the specific needs of the individual child.
