An individual looks at coloured light produced by a special machine called a Lumatron or a Photron Light Stimulator.
Supporters of this intervention believe that this will increase the ability of the neuro-visual pathways to transmit photocurrent to the different parts of the brain.
They also believe that this will help to balance the nervous system and regulate bodily functions such as hormone production, eating and sleeping patterns, moods and emotions.
We have been unable to identify any research evidence to suggest that lightwave stimulation is beneficial to people with autism.
Please see the Advanced version of this page for more information about this intervention, including relevant research studies and details of how we ranked them.
