Credentials

There are no formal qualifications for the facilitators of social groups. Most facilitators are volunteers or qualified in related activities e.g. teachers, social workers, youth workers, occupational therapists.

According to the National Autistic Society (2006, b)

‘Volunteers don’t need to know much about Asperger syndrome, rather they need to be people who are open-minded and willing to learn. Full training is given and expenses are reimbursed. ‘
