Ambient prism lenses – also known as conjugate prisms, yoked prisms, or performance lenses, transitional lenses or Kaplan lenses – are used to help improve ambient vision.
Ambient vision is the visual system related to spatial organisation. This includes posture, movement, as well as the perception of posture and movement.
Some people believe that ambient lenses can be used to improve posture and co-ordination in children with autism who have problems with ambient vision.
We are currently reviewing the research evidence on the use of ambient prism lenses for autistic people.
If you are aware of further research, or you would like to share your personal experiences of using ambient prism lenses please email info@researchautism.net Thank you.
Please see the Advanced version of this page for more information about this intervention, including relevant research studies and details of how we will rank it.
