A mother whose son has autism decided to write a book with him as the main character
A mother whose son was diagnosed with autism decided to write a book about him after he discovered a love of reading.
Sarah Phelps, 42, began writing the stories for her son Thomas, six, in order to help him understand situations in daily life.
The South Wales Police employee wrote and drew the illustrations of the books, which features her son as a character.
Sarah, who lives in the Rhondda with husband Neil, said: “Thomas was quite delayed in his progression and didn’t speak until he was gone four years old.
While Sarah was off work with illness she was sitting with Thomas and thought it might be a good idea to write a story for him.
