'My eight-year-old autistic daughter has tried to kill herself every week for a year'

A mum has described how her young autistic daughter has tried to kill herself nearly every week for the past year.

Donna Robinson says she has to constantly watch her eight-year-old, Poppy, as she continues to try to harm herself.

She says the youngster has been seen attempting to stab herself with a knife and has even thrown herself at moving cars.

During a recent incident, she apparently tried to strangle herself with a piece of string from something she had made at school.

Donna, a mum-of-three from Castleford, West Yorkshire, has always stopped Poppy from doing serious damage.

But she claims because she is stopping her, the little girl does not get the help she needs from her NHS Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
