If you’ve been inspired by the Olympics why not try one of our challenge events?
Research Autism is the only charity focused exclusively on building a solid research base to document interventions for autism rather than its causes. We aim to be the trusted source that those affected so desperately need for information on effective and scientifically researched treatments.
We have the active support of many of the world’s leading figures in autism, but we need your help too.
If you want to take on a challenge and help us at the same time, please contact Mary Lawrence on mary.lawrence@researchautism.net or ring 020 3490 3091.
All we ask is that you raise money for us. In return you will receive all the support you will need for fundraising and training for the event.
At the Easter weekend, after months of demanding training, our intrepid Trustee and Corporate Ambassador, Jonathan Buchanan, threw himself wholeheartedly into an ultra challenge to raise money for Research Autism.
Jonathan and three friends, Graham Booty, George Bownes and Andy Jones, known as Team Capital City, took part in the monumental Devizes to Westminster 2013 International Canoe Marathon. This is a gruelling 125 miles long race which crosses 77 locks at each of which the rowers had to pick up and run with their canoe sometimes for as long as a mile. It is an arduous test of skill and stamina, and is the longest non-stop canoe race in the world.

Setting out from North London, through Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire, with the distinguished city of Cambridge as the target.
The route follows dedicated cycle routes, up through Lee Valley Park, perfect roads for cycling under the cover of darkness, before making it in to our finish location at one of the picturesque parks in the heart of the city – for sunrise and breakfast!
Located in one of the most beautiful cities in the UK the route will take you through a backdrop of the historic town to catch glimpses of Edinburgh Castle and continues along a stretch of the North Sea coast to give you a panoramic view of the horizon.
The Edinburgh Marathon Festival has a wide range of courses available so it will be suitable for everyone whether you are a new or experienced runner. Short distance runners can opt for the 5km and 10km course held on Saturday 25th. The events held on Sunday 26th are for those seeking a more strenuous challenge. You can have a choice between the EMF Half Marathon and (for the most gruelling challenge) the Edinburgh Marathon. Alternatively if a solo run is not for you then the EMF Team Relay event is perfect if you want to take part with friends, relatives and colleagues.
